25 snacks that will fill you up and keep you full

Snacks are a great opportunity to fuel your body and brain between meals. Think of your metabolism as a campfire: you have to feed it regularly otherwise the flame dwindles and you can't roast your marshmallows to perfection. Oh, wait, I mean to say if you don't feed your body and your brain (which runs on carbohydrates) about every 3-5 hours throughout your day it tends to slow down and you get that brain-fog.


A good rule of thumb in choosing a snack is to combine protein and fiber, which will take the edge off that hunger and keep you going until the next meal.


Here are 25 healthy snack ideas:

  1. Pretzels and hummus

  2. Half of a sandwich (meat and cheese or PB&J)

  3. Apple slices dipped in peanut butter

  4. Trail mix (nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips)

  5. Hard-boiled egg and whole grain crackers

  6. Veggies dipped in hummus

  7. Cut up fruit with yogurt

  8. Graham crackers spread with peanut butter

  9. Cottage cheese and canned fruit

  10. Whole grain crackers with sliced cheese

  11. Half a pita bread with hummus

  12. Six-inch tortilla spread with almond butter, drizzled with honey and rolled up

  13. Handful of cereal with milk

  14. Granola bar and a string cheese

  15. Celery with peanut butter and raisins (aka, ants on a log)

  16. Yogurt with granola

  17. Popcorn with handful of nuts

  18. Slice of toast spread with nut butter

  19. Packet of instant oatmeal made with milk

  20. Slice of deli meat and fresh fruit

  21. Scoop of frozen yogurt with berries

  22. Sliced bananas dipped in nut butter

  23. Roasted chickpeas and fresh fruit

  24. Edamame and pretzels

  25. Cubed cheese and watermelon salad
